Building a vibrant, locally owned
and operated brokerage.

Rouse + Co is a boutique real estate brokerage located in the historic Starr Institute building in Rhinebeck Village. The agency was founded in 2022 by Rachel Hyman-Rouse, a former Wall Street analyst, investor and current Rhinebeck resident. Ms. Hyman-Rouse has been one of the Hudson Valley’s top luxury brokers since 2014.

Whether a modernist or preservationist, a devotee of charm or elegance, Rouse + Co’s extensive local network and informed agents ensure our clients’ real estate goals are achieved.

The company works with buyers & sellers across a wide range of price points. The primary elements of lifestyle – design, architecture & landscape – are central to the company, it’s employees and our services.

Our Team

Rachel Rouse
Principal Broker

Rachel’s upstate story sounds like a familiar tale. She bought her second home in Germantown as a weekender from NYC and became a full-time resident within a year. In reality, Rachel is a Dutchess County native, whose youthful ambitions led to over a decade on Wall Street as an analyst & hedge fund investor. After several summer rentals in the Hamptons and spending a considerable amount of time on the West Coast, Rachel ultimately settled in the Hudson Valley and stumbled into real estate as a second career. In 2014 she approached a leading regional broker about opening an office in Rhinebeck. By 2021, the office was generating $100MM+ in residential sales, over $50MM of which were her own. Rachel completed the sales of many of the most iconic properties in the region and was the listing agent for every sale in the Village of Rhinebeck over $2.5MM.

Rachel can often be found dashing around the village (teenage daughter and red poodle in tow) or dining out at one Rhinebeck’s many excellent restaurants.

David King
Licensed Associate Broker

David ‘s guiding lights are design and architecture. And land conservation. And libraries. And education. And any kind of terrier. His deep interest in material culture stems from growing up on his grandparents’ farm in the Mississippi Valley, where generations of artifacts were readily at hand. He is a veteran of the US Navy. David restored an early 19th Century house in Schoharie County as a weekend retreat while living in NYC’s East Village, and while working as an in-house Copywriter and Creative Manager for international cosmetics corporations. He is familiar with the back roads of Columbia County and the four river towns of Greene. An Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), David’s favorite witty quote: A decorator was once asked “What is the most over-used accessory?” “Money.”
